The North Mississippi Chapter of the American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. The ultimate goal of the American Red Cross as an organization is to achieve positive health outcomes and create a more resilient community.

United Way of Oxford-Mississippi helps to fund the agency’s Disaster Services program, which responds to victims by meeting their disaster-caused needs, helping to stabilize families by providing in-depth casework, and returning them quicker to economic self-sufficiency. The program also helps strengthen the capacity for disaster response, recovery, and readiness for victims as well as communities.
